North Hills Introduces New Sub-Miniature MIL-STD-1553 Data Bus Coupler

Syosset, NY (November 2, 2005) - - North Hills, a division of Porta Systems Corporation, announced it has developed an innovative Sub-Miniature Data Bus Coupler designed for programs that are weight sensitive and have limited space and volume for installation. The Sub-Miniature Data Bus Coupler dimensions are 1.34" x 1.2" x 0.4" and it weighs less than 30 grams.

The ­couplers are equipped with a mounting flange to f irmly attach to the aircraft and meet all MIL-STD-1553 electrical requirements. They are manufactured using North Hills ­transformers and MIL-R-39007 resistors. The parts can be purchased with internal termination resistors to further reduce installation ­complexity and parts count.

These couplers are supplied with one foot lengths of MIL-C-17/176-00002 cable without connectors for in-line splicing. Custom lengths are readily ­available and connectors can be added if required. ­­The ­couplers can also be provided as a fully tested ­harness ­assembly ready for installation.

The Sub-Miniature Data Bus Coupler can be space qualified for use in satellites or launchers, and is North Hills' latest addition to an extensive line of connection and measurement devices.
